Окончил харьковский университет, после чего оставил профессию физика-ядерщика и поступил в Школу-студиию МХАТ на курс Олега Ефремова. Создатель театра «Улисс». Осуществил более 20 постановок в московских театрах, ставил в Австрии, Англии, Ирландии, США (в том числе «Вишневый сад» с Сюзанной Йорк и Кенессом Хейгом). Спектакль по пьесе С. Мрожека «Эмигранты», поставленный в Московсвом театре-студии «Человек», который был признан автором лучшей сценической интерпретацией пьесы. Удостоен международных премий на фестивалях в Мюнхене, Лиссабоне и Осло.
